What Is Zynamite®? The Mango Leaf Extract, Explained

Julia Bloszyk

Emerald Nutrition Ignite® is a food supplement, not a medicine. The research summarised below was conducted on the ingredient Zynamite®, not on Ignite. Botanical research in this area is still emerging and is not the basis of any authorised health claim.

Zynamite® is a patented extract of mango (Mangifera indica) leaf, standardised to a high level of the polyphenol mangiferin. It is caffeine-free and has been studied in human, placebo-controlled trials for effects on cognitive performance and, in combination with quercetin, on exercise output. Emerald Nutrition Ignite® contains 300 mg of Zynamite® per serving.

Mangiferin is a naturally occurring polyphenol (a xanthonoid) concentrated in mango leaves. Zynamite® is standardised so each dose delivers a consistent amount of it — in Ignite, 300 mg of Zynamite® provides 45 mg of mangiferin per 8 g serving.

What does the research on Zynamite® show?

Two strands of human research exist. We report them factually; these are studies on the ingredient, not on Ignite, and most are acute (single-dose) studies in healthy adults.

Cognition. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study in Nutrients (2020), 70 healthy adults aged 18–45 took a single 300 mg dose of mango leaf extract (Zynamite®) or placebo. The researchers reported significantly improved accuracy on measures of attention and episodic memory over the hours following the dose.

Cognition and mood (soluble form). A 2025 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study of a soluble form of Zynamite® reported improvements in measures of mental performance and mood in young adults.

Exercise output (in combination). A double-blind crossover study in 40 physically active men and women tested 140 mg Zynamite® combined with 140 mg quercetin versus placebo and reported a small improvement (around 2.8–3.8%) in peak power output across the first repeated sprints. This finding is for a Zynamite® plus quercetin combination, not Zynamite® alone, and at a different dose to Ignite.

Is Zynamite® a stimulant?

No. Zynamite® is caffeine-free — a botanical polyphenol extract, not a stimulant. In Ignite, the caffeine comes separately and naturally from Yerba Mate and Guarana (80 mg per serving).

We selected Zynamite® because it is a standardised, patented, caffeine-free botanical with published human research behind it — the kind of evidence-led, transparent ingredient our formulation philosophy is built on. Ignite includes it at 300 mg per serving (providing 45 mg mangiferin) alongside creatine, natural caffeine, electrolytes, a Reds polyphenol blend (beetroot, haskap, pomegranate, acai, elderberry, acerola) and a B-vitamin and Vitamin C stack. Zynamite® is a registered trademark of Nektium.
